student email

hi im just wondering if anyone can tell me how i log into my student email account. i hav typed in my student number and password but its not accepting it...any ideas?? thanx

On the main WIT webpage there is a link on the left to Student Web Mail. Click this to direct you to your Gmail login. Enter in your student number (Without the W) as your username and your password which is the 6 letter password you originally got. If this fails, drop up to the Computer Services help desk to have the password reset.

thanx a mill for getting bak to me so quickly. i tried all of that so looks like il have to take ur advise and get my password reset!thanx for the tip

So how do you then change the email 200412345@mail.wit.ie to yourname@mail.wit.ie???

It's a good while since I left but when I was there only staff (including postgrads) have first initial followed by surname @ wit.ie - all undergrad students just use the number. Feel free to correct me, that may have been in the dark ages

Unfortunately you can't. You can however do the following within the Settings on your Gmail account.

1. Alter the title of the account. For example, change from Joseph Bloggs II to Joe Bloggs.
2. Change the reply address to a different address other than your student Gmail. For example, you send and email from your student account but when someone replies to you it goes to your other personal mail account.
3. Auto Forward any emails from your student account to another account.
4. This is the most effective option. If you have another Gmail account you can set it up to receive emails from your student email account without ever having to login to it.
