    Have you go a budget?

THe games you want to play?

    Screen size?As in a 15.6 is quite portable a 17 isn't as easy.

Budget? Preferred size? Just how 'gaming' do you want it - mid-level, high-end, etc?

The budget would be between 600 to 1000 i was hoping . With regarsd to screen size i wouldnt mind 17 inch .
When i say gaming i would just be looking at somthing that will play any of the current games MMO's and so on .

Unless you pick up a 2nd hand XPS 1730 or something you can forget about it...
A new gaming laptop will cost you well over a grand especially if you want a good video card in it and not one of nvidia's bastardised lower ones.

You're really asking for a lot of machine and not much of a budget,I'm not big into gaming laptops but i'd say for that price you'd get a high end media laptop with a pretty decent graphics card but nothing amazing..

The XPS M1730 is €1,279 on dell.ie,I have rarely seen gaming laptops for sale TBH,Maybe i just haven't looked :pac:

MSI GX623. €870. It has the ATI 4670 which scores very well in most tests ive seen. Seems to be an awful lot faster than Nvidias current mid-range card(s), the 9600M.

If you don't like MSI, Dell make a laptop with the same GPU called the Studio XPS 16. Its a little more expensive but you can get one now for €999 on sale. link.

Basically that's the kind of system you're looking at, something with a good mid-range card. You won't really afford a proper 'gaming laptop' (with high-end GPU) for that kind of money. But you'll still get a great laptop that performs very well.

The €1279 XPS1730 on Dell only has the 8700M graphics card. Which is complete rubbish, its only an overclocked 8600M GT, definitely not worth a premium price.

Bit of an exaggeration...I got an Acer 6935G with 9600GS 512MB for 599 euro in PC World, for example - it's what I would call a budget gaming machine, plays the likes of Far Cry 2 and Call of Duty World at War at HD Resolution at medium-high settings without AA. To put in into perspective, it's capable of playing most games at the same quality that you would see on the Xbox 360 for titles available on both formats. I didn't take from the OP's wording that he was wanting to play Crysis at maximum settings or anything...

800 quid would get you exactly what someone's mentioned above, a very nice media laptop with a very decent mobile video card capable of playing games at 1366x768 at medium-high settings for most games. 9600GS, HD4530, class cards and so on.

Great link. Dell Studio laptop here with 4GB of ram and a 512MB GDDR3 4570 for 625 euro delivered - fantastic bargain.
