How/Where to put an aerial?

    I did a search for "aireal" in Tech, couldn't find it, so hoping this hasn't been covered already...

    Yo all,
    Looking into finding out how to get an aireal for my house, to get the RTE1/2/etc channels. If I can get an aerial, we'll probably put an octo-LNB thing on the sky dish, to get the Sky & FTA channels.

    Could I put one up myself, or are these the huge massive tall things that you need some sort of specialist equipment for?

    Also, what would be the best way to feed it into the house? Put it in through where NTL comes though now? Could it come through the sky box?

    Presently, NTL goes through the skybox, and connects to all the TV's in the house (though lots of splitters, and what-not). Was wondering could I have the aerial feed theough the same network, if I remove the NTL cable?

    In a lot of areas in or around Dublin, a small contract aerial (even in attic space) will get quite decent results for the Irish stations. It all depends on your exact location, trees or hills in line with local transmitter, probably better contacting a pro. You are aware that this is the satellite forum, terrestrial would be the correct location for this.

    oh and the reason your search yielded nothing
    aireal = aerial

    Cool. Just outside Dublin, and no high tree's on the Dublin side.

    Aye. Covered in stuff about DTT, so wasn't sure.
