    Wonder if anyone has come across this before. I just replaced my lost DL and i was filling out a car rental form on a US website, where they asked for DL expiry date, so there I was looking at it for 10mins, NO EXPIRY DATE!

    So, how is one to know WHEN it needs to be renewed??

    Anyway, baffled, i called the Gards, she tells me, "er, it's right beside the issue date...", I say, "umm, No it isn't, my photo is there..." this goes back and forth a bit. She eventually tells me to call the Motor Tax office as there SHOULD be an expiry..

    WTF???

    On my license presuming to be the same as everybody elses the expiration date is in the box where the class of vehicle I can drive is.

    I can drive a B class vehicles and its in this box that my expiry date is.

    Mine has expiry across from each category.
    I guess you were so good driving that they just gave you a licence forever.

    pretty sure the numbers in the box beside the class are codes.
    i.e.:
    25=Modified accelerator system
    10=Modified transmission

    for instance, I have
    Category B
    from 25-10-96 to 04-01-17

    pretty sure they're not dates :-)

    PCPhoto,
    I know it's a 10 year, BUT as this is a replacement, I have no idea when i got my original. Therefore, no idea when this expires.

    Pretty sure you are mistaken.

    Your expiry date IS 04-01-17.

    Now you can book your car with ease.

    EDIT Your license will always expire on 10 years. You do not get a new date if you get a new license during the 10 years.

    This tells me that you are on your second 10 year license.

    Your first was 25/10/96 to sometime around Dec 2006. Then Dec 2006 to Jan 2017 is your second 10 year licence.

    You should find the date of issue is also around Dec 2006

    Just call into a tax office and they will change it for free. Then you'll know when it expires.
