GSM encryption is well past its shelf life in terms of security and privacy

    You can park a vehicle near a government building, bank head office or trading room, office building, or other place of interest and record the mobile phone traffic on a hard drive. Take it “home” and decrypt the stored data stream to listen to these organisation’s “secrets” at one’s leisure.

    All encryption systems have a limited shelf life due to the increasing speed of computers. Some banks are still using 1,024 bit public keys for their online banking (and no multi-factor authentication). Asking for trouble. But who cares?
