Disappointing launch - was at least expecting the addition of a camera a la iPhone. Can't see any major reason to change from Gen 2, apart from introduction of 64GB model for storage junkies!

I`m on first gen and going to upgrade to a third gen. (First one going to the Mrs). I purposely held out to see what was launched.

Disappointing alright but at least I get twice the memory for the same price.

Supposed "issues" with the camera part for the Touch. They are expecting it to come out in the near future, from what I can gather?

They're certainly not going to change it in the 'near future', that'd piss too many customers off. I wouldn't expect a camera till the 4th gen now. Internals of the 32 & 64 are meant to be the same as the 3GS.

Last thing Apple care about is pissing customers off. If they have to, they'll bring a Touch out with camera, radio etc, but charge an extra $50

They have done it before. They brought out the 32gb Touch mid term or was it a bigger iPhone. Cant remember the exact thing. But think they credited people somehow.

I couldn't really care about the camera but it's a pity there is no radio in the Touch.

It was the 16GB first gen. iPhone - it launched about 5-6 months after the original 8GB and was (I think) cheaper than the 8GB at launch, which is what really pissed people off. So yeah, a refresh to the Touch way before next September is entirely possible...

Memory capacity has been upped numerous times half way through a cycle, but that's it. Other changes denote a new revision and that's on a yearly basis.

Firstly this isn't the 3G iPod touch, it's listed as 2009 fall Touch in iTunes 9 release notes, so 2.5 at best at only the larger capacities.

My guess is they had problems with the 3G Touch with the camera and will push it out in January after they sell most of the 2nd Gen 8GB stock.

It is a bit weird the 16GB is missing.

Fairly disappointing launch alright, especially on the classic, was expecting much more on that. Now the design on that hasn't changed in 2 years, and one could get a 160gb on in 2007 too!

Maybe on the Touch, they're gonna launch the one with the camera when they launch the legendary apple tablet yokey that some are on about.

This launch has certainly ensured that i hold onto my trusty 80gb classic for another bit!:)
