Would you give your kids as much time on computers as your parents did?

You would have to wonder what type of generation is being dragged up atm. Would you consider addiction to computer games amongst kids a destructive disorder?

This is funny in a way but also disturbing because I think this kid probrably represents a growing proportion of kids. Even though I think the numbers that are like this are very small - it is growing.

Perhaps you are/were like this? Have you been corrupted? Would you allow your kids as much time without worry as you may have been afforded in various virtual gaming worlds? Our parent's generation had at least the excuse of ignorance in tolerating over use of computers to their kids. I don't think that excuse applys any more.

    What do you think?

    I hope so:eek:

But I do know one or two people that have acted (not as bad as that!) something like that right in front of me and they are 19 years of age...it was kind of scary actually. It's like they are completely caught up in world of unreality.

Depends entirely on the attitude enforced. These whiney little bitches you see youtube videos of? They need to be thrown out of the house to pull weeds. Im not saying games arent great brain exercises in most cases but if your child has spoiled, you need to cut the little ****er off until he learns his place.

I've been around PCs since I was a young thing and all it ever did was grow my interest in them. I'm not the fittest lad granted, but I know way more than the average person would about a PC. Which you wouldnt figure, is a powerful thing to have on a resume/CV. You've seen the rant in the R&R forum. Employees with skills getting hounded for their knowledge. Its annoying yes but to a degree it helps you hold down a job when you dont have to waste your whole day because your word processor broke a toenail - others wait, but you fix, and carry on. Some days youre being twice as productive as those around you on the simple fact.

Its not so much time as it is content. Any kid should have access, but access to what? At least when I was ruining my computer from browsing porn I was learning to fix it up after myself :pac: (and more accurately - learning how to prevent that kinda BS from getting on my machine in the first place).

most kids just give up and let someone else clean their virus ridden messes: they can get a book and GTFO. Rather if a kid wants to learn how to put a new GPU in his machine to play a new game, I'd encourage him. That is a skill. A surprisingly simple skill, that is surprisingly uncommon: most people are afraid to or are too lazy to trust themselves to do those kinds of things. These are the same people that break machines lose (often precious) data and spend needless hundreds in currency to have 'professionals' fix their mess.

Addiction wise though, everything in moderation, and supervised. Most parents I hear from that have kids that play WoW for example do play themselves, and usually play alongside their kids. Good for bonding and good for supervision. My boss plays WoW with his daughter on the weekends.

Nothing wrong with time with computers. There are a lot of benefits.

Don't get me wrong - all kids should have proper immediate access. I have also been around PC's since the 286 (remember that!) and have played all most of the modern games since then right up to now. But never have I had the sort of tantrums alot of kids today seem to have (to varying degrees). Id imagine it is worse if your the parent trying to enforce some rules!

That vid is fake. People believe it cause its in germany and don't understand the corny rubbish the kid is saying.

Some of the WoW ones were real though.

    [Note: both clips feature swearing]

Sometimes i miss some of the tards in that game

The problem here is that some paretns are too scare to let their kids out and counter balance it by letting them play video games.

The thing abot video games is this - and I've learnt it as a kid and as a sub-parent: after a while, they get boring and the kids WANT to do something else.

Everything I don't like is either woke or fascist - possibly both - pick one.

It isn't the computer to blame for the kid going crazy in the vid. I remember people reacting like that over a football match in P.E ffs and they're still acting like that playing 5 a side. Some people are just ****ed up:D

    The internet ruined my innocence.

I mean fuck, I had no idea what a front-bottom looked like until my 10 year old self was corrupted by clicking on a dodgy link.

The internet's a bad bad thing.
Boards just about makes up for it.

People who play computer games need to have a fucking wánk

The video is fake, the kid did it as a joke. There's another video with him in it talking about how he planned it.

I don't think the internet is an addiction. I can stop anytime I want:p.
