Court Summons for failure to produce Licence

    Hello All,
I'm new to this forum and am wondering if anyone can help me. I was stopped for speeding in March this year and received my fine in June for €80. It seemed a while for it to be processed but i paid the fine and thought that was the end of it. Only to receive a court summons a few weeks later with a date to appear in November for not producing my driving licence at my nearest station. I had not been asked by the officer to report to my local station to show my licence.

The officer asked for my licence on the side of the road, which i did not have on me and then told me it was an offence to not have it with me. He then asked for my address which he wrote down in his note book. He than asked what was my nearest station, which i told him. He then said i should slow down and take care.

That was the whole conversation with this officer. I have no problem appearing in court and explaining this but where am i likely to stand? I have spoken with a friend that had the same issue last year and once he went to court it was thrown out. After his court appearance he was advised that he should have contacted the station involved and explained that he had not been asked to produce his documents and it may not have gone to court.

Can anyone give any advise on this.

    Regards

First thing I would do is ring the station of the Garda named in the summons, ask to speak to him and explain the situation and that you didnt realise you were asked to produce. Tell him that you can do produce now and with this he may just ask for it to be thrown out in court.
If he's still being an arse about it....which I doubt....turn up on the court date with your summons and it will 110% be thrown out
