MyWheels.ie-how accurate is it?

I checked a year 2000 car I'm interested in buying and mywheels.ie came up with "Tax Expiry Date Mar 2009" which is ok, but "NCT Due Date Mar 2004".

If it's not an error could there be a more sinister reason for that NCT due date?

Do a search. Been covered to a great length already. It doesn't seem to be accurate all of the time

    Maybe it was never NCT'd

Mar 2004 sounds like the 4 year anniversary.

Is there an NCT disc in the window of said car?

Well I've checked around 10 cars and all the details on it were correct.

Were any of them written-off? It seems to be particularly bad at notifying write-offs.

I haven't yet seen the car in person, so I don't know if it has any disc at present.

The ad on carzone says NCT'd to May 2010 and also says just NCT'd, so I'm not sure what's going on.

Nothing would be "registered" with mywheels.ie - they get feeds from whoever this kind of information is registered with. In this case the car probably hasn't been processed, or hasn't been processed correctly, by the good people in Shannon.

It probably has no NCT or the NCT is too new to have been fed into mywheels.

    Same as ^

I had a car written off Oct 2005, listed as imported but not written off!

well...according to mywheels.ie the motortax on my car is more than 120 days expired and is not NCTed since 2007. :D
It is not true of course!

nope, the only thing that was off in a few of them were the amount of previous owners.

If a year 2000 car has just passed its first ever NCT, would this be a major cause for concern?

It's a cheap car(2,900 euros) and exactly what I'm looking for. I wonder if it would be a risky purchase.
