Reccomend a first race?!

    Hi Guys :)

I have my diet sorted and now I'm aiming to get my fitness on track.

I go to the gym four times a week

    Exercise:Four times a week
30minutes Cardio (Treadmill at jogging speed or crosstrainer low resistance)
10minutes (Weights - arms machine, Tricep dips & curls)

    My question:

I'm looking for a fitness goal - like a short race!

I'm busy in April but any other month I would like a recommendation for a first-timer.

    Any thoughts?!

    Thanks :)

Hey Happy in the sports section there is a Athletics / Running / Triathalon section, that would be the best place to ask the question.
I think there is also an events thread there too.

Sports -> Athletics / Running / Triathalon in the drop down menu on top of the screen.

Depends on whereabouts in the country you are but if you are Dublin based and it's not too soon for you, the Rathfarnham 5k is a great race, very well organised and usually a decent size crowd of all standard and abilities. It's on Sunday 4th October.

As many posters here will vouch, a 5k is a great distance to start with.

Agree with this, I did the Rathfarnham 5k last October as my first race ever and it kinda got me hooked :)

    Hi :)

    Apologies - I didn't have a chance to reply

I live not too far from Rathfarnham so thank you for an excellent reccomendation!

Very much appreciated. I hope I'm ready in time. I run in the gym but never outside so it may be too much of a transition in a short amount of time!

    Thanks again for your help!!:)
