Anyone else hear his valuable input on cycle lanes this morning?

It could. Rather than segregating cyclists, often in a very cack-handed way, why not improve our pothole strewn road surfaces?

yea some cycle lanes are is stupid places, like on a road just wide enough to fit 2 cars down it, there is a cycle lane. Ridiculous

Don't think that's quite what he was getting at....I think he was coming from a hatred of cyclists angle

I would question how it can cost over €1m per km to build a cycle lane (if the quited figures of 7km for €10m are correct).

Is there a playback/listen again function on the... hmmm, what station is he on? Wouldn't mind getting it from the horses mouth, if possible. Cheers.

Or maybe he's still bitter over Ray Darcy getting his Den gig.

€900,000 per km in consultant's fees. The rest on the cycle track.

Probably bitter that Ray's bicycle keeps him thin and lean while he loses the battle with middle age spread.

Maybe opportunity cost is involved since they are removing 130 or so car parking spaces to make way for the bike lane.

White paint is very expensive these days.

Cycle "facilities" have been, with very few exceptions, a pointless and frequently counter-productive exercise in this country. They don't seem to encourage extra people to cycle, they're usually put onto roads that are already popular with cyclists and result in cyclists ending up being harrassed on those roads when they don't use them, they're frequently, nay almost always, more dangerous than using the road anyway, which in most cases wasn't that dangerous in the first place ...

    I won't labour the point.

So, whatever about his personal beliefs, his statement appears quite true to me.
