Problem with Apple Mac and wireless router

    Hello,

I have an Imac and also a mac book air. I am using an N type Belkin Wireless Router.

The problem I'm getting is both my imac and mac book air stops working on the internet. To get it going again I have to go to the wireless/airport icon on the top right of the screen (which shows a full signal), click on it and turn airport off then on straight away. The internet starts working again after a few seconds.

This can happen every 10mins or it may not happen at all in a day.

What is even stranger is that when i take my Mac book over to my parents house who have a Netgear wireless router, it does the same thing.

We also have a PC laptop in the house and this never has a 'break in service' like both macs seem to keep having.

I'm guessing it is a problem with a setting in both the Macs which are wrong as it seems to happen with any wireless router wherever I am and not with a PC.

Anyone know what the problem is or any suggestions? thanks!

is this behaviour new or has it always been this way?

I had no problems accessing Wi-Fi on my MBP until I upgraded to the new OS (10.6 Snow Leopard) last weekend.
Now I cannot access the Wi-Fi router at work (LinkSys) or the one at home (Zyxel).
Looking at the support forum on Apple's website it appears to be a common problem.

Just to mention that I have this exact same problem.

My MacBook is about 6 months old on OS X 10.5.8, and I'm using a Netgear wireless router. Airport regularly drops the connection. Stepping through the network diagnostics wizard usually picks up the connection again, but often have to reboot the router too. Netgear forums seem to suggest it's just a crap router..

There was issues with wireless connectivity on earlier versions of 10.5, although I think it was fixed well before 10.5.8.

Maybe your router settings or internet settings have changed?
