Heh gang. Was just wondering how many Boardsies have names that can be elongated to their full Christian names if their parents are annoyed. Is there the same thing in "scumbag" families. Are all the Britneys called Brit or Britser or love or chicken at home. Is it only in the supermarket that sadly the last weapon has to be employed. I know I grew up in a family where if your full name was used, you were not only in deep ****, but you'd let your parents down.:o

So I suppose the question is; "Is it only common sense to name your child with a name that can be elongated to show displeasure?"

    \awaits Birmingham tank engine's response:P;)

    There's a gang? ;)

Anyway, I have a long name but have shortened it myself for easiness reasons for employers and others that have to call, sometimes shout it in emergency.
    My family/parents don't mind.

a friend of mine is called gerry, he always calls me "soups"
thats how i got my username.

I met him one day in town and said "Hi Gerry" to which he repiled "Hi Soups"

His mother turned round and said "My son's name is Gerald"

Did she think my real name was soups?????

btw if your reading this Gerry.......:P

Totally know what you mean! Everyone calls me Choc, but when I'm in for a telling-off from the parents, it's "Chocoholic, we need to have a talk...." :p

in recent years i have come to terms with the fact that parents like it when their kids get in trouble, they get a sense of joy from shouting at them, why else would they do it

I wonder if any of those sad individuals who are named after the players on a football team, ever get the full version shouted at them when they're late for dinner?

My name has multiple variations but more often then not I seem to be referred to as 'you dirty bastard'.

Brilliant. I actually have three levels because I'm Ger. It can go to Gerry first. If Gerard has to be invoked, I'm in serious trouble. They could call up saints next.:(

Wouldn't it have been great if you'd said "I'm actually Soupserald. But a gentleman doesn't need to trade on his name."

I'm assuming your name gets shortened to Mr. Big then?

Well judging by your username you are either Kirk Douglas or the pinnacle of the Asian race.

Strange, she insists I let her call me "T-800" ;).

Everyone calls me Tom, even the really old-fashioned strict teachers. Being called by my 'real' name, as it were, I hate. It always means I've done something wrong (which is quite often :pac:)

Thomas is worse. THOMMMMASSSSSS is even worse.
THOMAS JOSEPH MEEHAN GET YOUR ARSE DOWN HERE NOW is when I know they've stumbled across my browsing history

EDIT: If you're on about what I think you're on about IAF, that wasn't for being naughty, that was because she wanted me to hurry up. :P
And having the name "TOM-TOMMMM!" shouted down Morrisons in a sing-song voice is horribly humiliating.

My real name is Elizabeth but most call my liz. When my dad calls me for dinner or to do a job he has a special way of calling my name, sorta goes "ElizaBETH!". My mummy, and only my mummy, calls my lily. No one else is allowed to.

My name can't be shortened really.. I have nicknames but they're all longer than my actual name and none of them are EVER used unless I just meet someone and they're trying to be "clever".. (lololol u mean lyk princess leia?!! har har har!-- my name isn't even fecking pronounced like that you twats!).

When I'd get in trouble my mom'd just pull out my middle name.
