    Ok Hi everyone,

I'm new to all this and what I need is some answers if there's anyone who can help.

Went into A and E in June with Gallstones attack and like many was told had to have my gallbladder removed. I've since been with the surgeon and he has told me waiting would only be 4 to 6 weeks.
Can anyone give me an idea of how long you were waiting for your surgery.

    Many thanks.

    Hi thanks for your reply,

Yeah sounds good but it's been well over that now just wondering if you had experience with this or knew of someone who has.

    Thanks :)

You can ring the waiting list office of the hospital and ask them. Remember that lots of hospitals 'save costs' over the summer by closing day wards and 5 day wards so that could delay your surgery.

This is 100% spot on! I work in a waiting list office and our dayward was closed for 6 weeks this summer.

Another thing I will advise the OP on is that surgeons have a ''habit'' of telling their patients 'oh yeah, we'll get that done in a few weeks' without consulting the waiting list office and of course they are all very aware of their waiting time which on average for lap chole is 3+ months on average.
