    Hey
just wondering if anyone else has ever heard of this... rang up today to see if i could hurry along another test date (no. 6 :( ) to be told that after 4 failed attempts u have to have supervisor tester which means a longer wait??
i just want to get my licence?? the waiting and costs are ridiculous??
surely the whole system should be reformed??
your instructor should be able to tell you when you are a capable confident driver and not some random stranger watching you drive for 30 minutes when your very nervous and not going to drive as confidently as you normally would

"have to have supervisor tester" No you do not you can have a normal/standard tester if you wish.

If you don't mind why have you failed 5 tests or do you know? Just a Query

That would be a ridiculous system! Should school teachers decide that their pupils should be granted a state examination certificate? A qualified 'random stranger' is in a much better position to decide.

And competence is the key word - not confidence. Some of the worst drivers out there are confident but show no competence.

Totally Agree, this very good point.

I’m sorry but I find that hard to believe because that is discrimination. I'm over ten years involved in the industry and this is the first time I have ever heard of that. Ring again and tell them you are entitled to have a test in the same way as everyone else.

Don't do the Irish Thing and take no for an answer.

Ill ring tomorrow if you want!

    Regards

Something sounds very odd OP. As DrivingInfo says, give them a call tomorrow and sort it out.

I thought it was standard practice to have a test conducted by a supervisor if a candidate was unsuccessful several times. It's to ensure that the person can't claim to have been unfairly treated and is done in their interests.

thanks a mill i might take you up on that.... they said that on your 4th failed attempt you have to have a supervsor conduct your test.. if thats the case then my last test should have been with one but it wasnt... my instructor had never heard of it either

There's no harm in giving them a ring and asking i suppose. I've never heard of it before either, although i don't have experience in the industry. Let us know how you get on.

I wonder what it is a supervisor tester can do that a normal tester can't :confused: except stress you out even more!

Are they saying that a normal tester is not capable of testing you?

    Hi Jenny

If you ring 096 78289 and look for Sandra, she will clarify this.
You are given a ST (Supervisor Tester) as a courtesy when you fail 4 tests, the ST will give a little more time and will help you relax.

I have sent people to the RSA to look for this type of test for the reasons above (time, relax) and it helps. It is not a different test it is just a more relaxed tester, e.g. "a hello jenny, how are you today".

If you do NOT want a ST just tell them and you will be put on the standard test waiting list.

NOTE: The waiting time for the ST may be longer OR shorter, depends on where you are in the country. ASK about the waiting time before you go on to the standard list.

I hope I have helped, Best wishes

    Regards

    Hi Jenny

Ahh so that's the difference between a normal and an ST, and probably 5k a year :)

It is not a different test it is just a more relaxed tester, e.g. "a hello jenny, how are you today".

This bit is hard to swallow though, can the RSA give a good reason why a normal tester should not have a relaxed manner

Having said that may-be I was just lucky but the tester I got was sound and couldn't have been more relaxed or made me feel more relaxed, not sure if he was an ST or may-be just had the Friday feeling :)

    Well done jenny4385!!

Can I ask, what differences you found between the ST as opposed to a regular examiner?

    Just curious....

i failed mine 4 times and never seen or heard of this business when i done the 5th test. it must be a new thing, tell us more

I'm on lucky number 4 now, and am intrigued to ask for a supervisor tester!

How did it affect the waiting list?

Was it a more informal test?
