For a family, 2 adults and 1 child?

    is it 900 a month?

How much do you have to contribute?

    Hi Elliee

The amount of Rent Supplement you get is calculated by the HSE's Community Welfare Officer (CWO) and will generally ensure that your income, after paying rent, does not fall below a minimum level. This level is the basic Supplementary Welfare Allowance (SWA) rate for your circumstances, less €24.

€24 is the 'minimum contribution' you must make to the rent.

The current maximum rent paid to landlords for Dublin (couple with one child) is €930 per month. The HSE can set lower rent levels for local areas.

If your actual rent is higher than the local maximum, you may be refused Rent Supplement.

There are also a number of qualifying conditions for claiming rent supplement. You can find out more about these here: http://www.welfare.ie/EN/Schemes/SupplementaryWelfareAllowance/Pages/RentSupplement.aspx
