Sealing around heating pipes

Is there a suitable sealant that one can use around heating (radiator) pipes, indoors?

It has to be flexible as the pipes can contract and expand a bit, and it has to be non-toxic and not to release any fumes when heated up to 70 degrees Celsius...

Linseed putty is the only thing I can think of, as it probably has nothing toxic to release, but will it last?

Are you doing it to prevent heat loss?
