Buying an iphone in Apple Store in LA??

Hi here in LA on holidays at the moment and I'm really impressed by the iphone. Unfortunately, I know nothing about them. My query is if I spend $300 buying one, can I use it in Ireland with Vodafone ??? If so, which model should I buy?? Sorry for creating a new thread but I only have limited web access Thanks

You won't buy one in the US without a contract im afraid. If you do manage to get one you can unlock it. It takes a bit of tinkering with the phone but it can be done.
