Using a pseudonym for stand-up shows

Is this common? I'm new to doing stand-up and I'd like to keep at it. But my name is quite distinctive and I'm already working hard on pushing it as a singer/songwriter doing material that is non-comedy based. Which could be a bit confusing for punters and I could easily see people coming along to a music show and not knowing when to take it seriously. Not exactly a life or death conundrum but I'd be interested to hear of any other comedians you may know have in a similar situation or that are using pseudonyms.
