    Hello all,
I've recently ordered a dell studio 15 and it's now been dispatched I'm just wondering where do the majority of dell orders come from?I know they used to build machines in Limerick but I though that was more the paperwork side of things now?

I'm asking cause I'd like to have a rough idea of when the machine will be here...Thanks all :)

They are either assembled in the plant in Poland or they come directly from the manufacturer (Far East, where incidentally 90% of the worlds laptops are made). Depends on model. You should have a customer no. and order no. (that was emailed to you) that will allow you to track it. Typically you get it 3 to 5 days after it ships. It's usually Interlink who deliver or whatever they are called now.

My order status stayed like that for 2 weeks when i ordered from dell in July. And my order was only coming from Limerick. The status isn't terribly accurate me thinks. Even after ringing Dell they said they had no updates for me...and it turns out, after speaking to a contact in DPD, DPD only received the pc two days before delivering it to me, despite Dell claiming to have given it to them a week and a half before. Now perhaps something got messed up with my order, but it seems very odd.

Ah yeah....once the carrier has it, it's unlikely you won't see any more updates...was the same when they were assembled in Ireland. You would have to ring the carriers local depot, tell them you have a dell system due out and they'd check the warehouse for it. All a bit crap. No proper tracking once it's shipped. What happened the poster above is the exception though. I reckon you should have it in 2 days or so, once the carrier has it.

Was it just through this contact that you found out when DPD got it or did you use your Dell order number or something?

I got a DPD tracking number after a week and a half or there abouts. Once i had that i was able to find out through my contact that they had only received it the day before, it had been sitting in a Dell warehouse all that time for some reason.

I just hope you had a bad experience :pac:

I'll give them a call tomorrow if no tracking number is up :)

I'd say it was tbh, i haven't heard of that happening to anyone else. Well best of luck! Nothing worse than waiting for new gear to arrive.

Rung today as my tacking was still showing up as : "Status of delivery: Your order is currently with the carrier and a detailed status on your delivery should be available shortly." and due to a bad line and the women talking very quickly i know it's somewhere in the world and is in transit :)
