Morning Breath

I went to see Michael McIntyre in The Olympia last night. He did a whole skit on morning breath...

You brush your teeth before bed, floss, use mouthwash etc ... So, WHY when you wake up, does your breath smell like you've potentially "drank from the toilet"?

Does anyone have any suggestions on why this happens?

I pick my arse in my sleep and chew on it.

    It explains mine anyway.

    TaDaaa!!
In most cases (85–90%), bad breath originates in the mouth itself. The intensity of bad breath differs during the day, due to eating certain foods (such as garlic, onions, meat, fish, and cheese), obesity, smoking, and alcohol consumption. Because the mouth is exposed to less oxygen and is inactive during the night, the odor is usually worse upon awakening ("morning breath").

Well, that's all too obvious, isn't it?

It's much more fun to ask people on Boards and hear their suggestions, as insane as they normally are.

Because I drink from the Toilet.

An even greater mystery is the popularity of Michael McIntyre-that fckr is profoundly unfunny.

He was brilliant last night. He's really good at accents and his energy is amazing. He was jumping around on the stage for an hour and a half!

Can't wait to go to my next stand-up show now... Dylan Moran, hopefully :D

I've heard it's from eating too late before you go to sleep and the smell is coming from your stomach digesting the food while you sleep.

You shouldn't be eating for at least 2 hours before you go to sleep anyway.

I didn't spoil anything, you little brat! :P A lot of his material from last night was relating to an Irish audience, so it wouldn't be relevant to you foreign lot!

    Disagree.

Check him out on TopGear, very funny.

I always thought it's because you're not drinking water at night/mouth's inactive so bacteria have time to multiply.

maybe it's the spiders that crawl into your mouth while you're asleep

DUH!! Everyone knows the "morning-breath-fairies" fly around during the night and Tea-Bag you while your sleeping......What are they teaching in schools these days?!!

I love the skit with Michael McIntyre going on about the Kings of Leon.

    Here

    Darling, don't be alarmed!

    He's a good singer too.

Some people while trying to sleep, find it it difficult to breathe through their nose's so will breathe with their mouths open .But the saliva that keeps our mouths moisturised drys up , so this invites bacteria from inhaled /stale air to build up in the throat ,nose and mouth throughout the night ...hence dry mouth next morning .

I once told a lady friend to keep her mouth closed throughout the night as you never know what might sneak in there while asleep ;)

Eating your girlfriends sloppy box before you go to sleep is guaranteed to give you a fairly rancid gob next morning.

A knob in her mouth aint going to help much either ,,,,,,,opps this isin't the Thunderdrome thread

maybe she should wash it before you dine

She should, but the flap juice will grease her up again in no time.

In fairness to the distaff side, an intake of big thick bell girdled with ripe knob cheese won't do her any favours in the morning either.

    A gargle with TCP maybe.

"knob cheese"? - Have some class, man!

    It's smegma...

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 14,575 ✭✭✭✭FlutterinBantam

incorrect honey- smegma lubricates the glans, and allows intercourse to occur by facilitating the movement of the foreskin along the glans.

knob cheese or "bell butter" accumulates behind the head of the glans and lodges in the area behind the flange.

can get very "ripe" if left uncleaned for a period and hence can give the female a very fluffy mouth the morning after a bout of fellatio.

    Check it out.

    ... That's a quote from Dr Phil's homepage, isn't it?

Morning breath is caused by an accumulation of biofilm on the tongue, teeth, gums and throat! Duh!

It was invented to stop men forcing their partners to indulge in a quickie before work. Then came doggie style! :(
