    Hey , Folks .

Im emigrating in a few weeks and need to sell my car as soon as possible.
Whats the best way to do this , currently using the obvious ways, online, paper, signs on car. Anyone have any luck using any other methods. Would it be a waste of my time trying to sell to a dealer.

    Appreciate any help

    P

simple: you need it gone fast, sell it for lowest price, comparing it too ather same models with same spec.

If its something like everyday banger, you wount have any trouble, but if its something more exotic, you will get stuck m8

    Hey,

As a recent buyer I have to say I had no interest in looking at the paper or even any car with signs in them for sale. I only wanted to purchase my car from a reputable dealership who done a complete check and gave a few months guarantee also.

I'm sure they would charge commission ( I'm honestly new to this) but I'm sure it would be worth it as I for one found the dealership more assuring when I bought my own first car.

What car is it? Year? Mileage? Advertising it at the lowest price possible would be a start. Get some good photos, put it on Carzone, Adverts.ie, DoneDeal, Buy & Sell, put a 'for sale' notice in the window of the car (without the price), put it in shops, the list goes on. The one thing that will really sell it is price. Check Carzone and compare prices, make sure yours is the lowest.

I wouldn't advise going to a dealer though, you'd really get ripped off if you weren't trading in. Hell, you'd get ripped off anyway.

Its an Alfa 156 , i have underpriced it alot , but still no joy, just getting very frustrated . Cheers for the replys . One dealer said they have a sell
your car service , no sale , no fees . Any one use these before and want kinda fee do they charge.

I sold my banger trough gumtree.ie

But price has to be right, right away when I dropped the price one person contacted me and bought the car.

But if the price would not be correct, then I would still have the car.

So I think there are many buyers who will check some cars on daily basis and will only contact you if the price is ok.

OP - your price is the issue here, nothing else. As the others have said, if you lower the price, you should get some takers. At the price you have it advertised for, you will never sell it. You would currently be the 4th dearest on carzone!
Just like all of the dealers out there, drop the price & take the pain. only then can you move on!
    Good luck.

Would nt have thought it was dear, checked online and compared it to
others with similiar spec and mileage and they seem to be up for 1500 - 3000 k more than mine.

Price is a ok ish but there's not a lot of info in your ad. You need to include any info you can think of on the car, last service, service history, tyres, spec. Plus your pictures are brutal - cant supersize. Looks a nice car but the ad really lets it down

See what they are going for in the UK and add the VRT. Then knock 100 off. That's a bargain and someone will buy it. You can also hold firm on your asking price as you can let them know they couldn't import one cheaper. Think of the travel alone. 4K too much IMO. 2.5K should shift it

Really , as low as that . I would be taking a pretty big hit on it at that
price. Bought it just over 2 years ago and had planned on keeping it for a while yet but as i said im leaving for canada in a couple of weeks. I know
Alfas depreciate in value alot but is that not a bit extreme.

Not really, secondhand market isn't too healthy at the moment. I reckon €3k would be about right

Well i have a couple of weeks before i head away , and still have the option of leaving it for sale when i am gone. Does anyone have any experience using dealers " sell your car" service . Do they charge much to provide this service. Cheers for all the replys guys , this is helping , Not a huge car buff so any help is greatly appreciated.

Having a dealer sell your car when you're out of the country is a bad idea., Never mind the 'commission', how much will they charge for sending the money to you, if they do it at all? Get a family member to sell it for you. €4000 for an '02 156 is a bit much - it's a 156 after all. It's certainly not a bargain anyway.

I would be in the country while dealing with the dealer , if not it would be a family member, they would not be sending the money to me. Compared to others with the same spec and milage it is not a bad price though. Obviously i might have to drop the price more , but not a whole lot. If i was to go to 3500 you would be hard pressed to find another for that price going by carzone and cbg.

Look at it this way, if you can get a similar car from a dealer with a warranty for less money why would you buy privately?

    €3200

    €3900

    Price Price Price.

Look at what I bought this week for €2k, ok it's a year older but it has just 59k miles.

If you really want to sell it, stick it up on ebay with a reasonable reserve and see how you go. I can't see how leaving it for sale when you go is going to help, it's not like it's gaining value. Good luck anyway.

    No problems with the link.

It seems a little dear, and if time really isn't on your side, I reckon you will have to drop that price considerably. If you want a fast sale these days, it really has to be a bargain.

Remove the expression "all electric" from your ad. It's meaningless.

When has the timing belt changed, how about service history, tyres etc.

All that info should be in the ad.

Presumably at least replace it with "electric windows and mirrors" then?

    +1

Nobody worth their salt will buy an Alfa without knowing when the belt was done. I'd rather buy one privately with history from an Alfa enthusiast and with the belt just done for €3.5k than I'd buy one with warranty from a dealer for €3k...

    Seats, sunroof, aerial, central locking......

The list could go on and on.
