Hi all, I'm looking at possibly getting a house in Tullamore area, I work in Dublin (not city centre but an outer suburb) as does the OH.

Does anyone do this commute daily & if so how long does it take you, what times do you do it & is there a way of avoiding the toll?

depends on where your outer suburb is in Dublin and which side of Tullamore you are coming from, although you should avoid traffic in Tullamore at the times you will be travelling.

Tullamore to the M50 should be about 50 minutes using the toll road.

To avoid the toll you need to go via Kinnegad\Enfield not sure what they are like at peak times but off peak it adds about 15 minutes.

The Tullamore bypass is due to open early next year but it looks to be only a matter of a few weeks (September 20th) so it should make travel through the town easier from which ever side. Depending on where in Dublin your heading a good option is via Portarlington and on to the M7 as its toll free and the road to the motorway is not too bad

I think the place is on the Dublin side & is on the road between Tullamore & Portarlington. I normally wouldn't put myself through such a commute but the house is a great deal.

Are you or anyone else making a similar trip each day on the M7 & is it bearable considering you may like where you live?

If you wait a bit longer you could get the same type of house for the same price a lot closer to Dublin ;)

*Sigh* Could be true but need to move in somewhere before next April & this place is a 5 bed on an acre, brand new & serious bargain. It's so hard to tell with property.
I'd wait longer only for fact have to get out of rental place in now by next spring, so rather than arse about with first & last deposits on a new rental, may as well take the plunge.

Ok well did the trip last night from Lucan to a town called Ballinagar (dublin side of Tullamore). Took the M4 up to Kilcock & then back roads from there & it was 55 mins & that was going at a reasonable pace so happy enough with that!
