Have a broken ECU and searched the country for a replacement/secondhand one but no luck. next option is to get the original one repaired

Came across this crowd www.the-ecu-doctor.co.uk and wonder how reliable they are.

open to suggestions also for anyone in Ireland that does this service also!

    thanks

Joe from chippedire may be able to help you, he repairs ecu's as well as remapping.

From experience, I think you would be better off dealing with this company http://www.atpelectronics.co.uk/

    awaiting a response from http://www.atpelectronics.co.uk/

also found a place in Dublin - Logic Automotive out in Rathcoole who do repairs. Only problem is they wont give quote til they see it so id have to courier from Galway and hope for best!

Traynors have 40 C3's at present which are either for breaking or already dismantled.

I wouldn't bother trying to get one repaired. Last time I did I was told they could identify the fault but had no access to the parts to repair it. I ended up getting one off ebay.

There are a few C3 ECUs on ebay presently, one is even under a 12 month warranty under a swap out scheme.

I used http://www.ecu-testing.com/ to repair one form a Merc C280. Very nice people. Very prompt and it worked fine. They knocked a fair whack off the price when I mentioned the low price I paid for the car in relation to the cost of the fix. I can recommend them.

How much did it cost as a matter of interest? I found quotes I was getting were far more expensive than getting one from 2nd hand/from ebay.

There should be a sticker on your's with a part number on it. That's all you need.

Would also like to know how much they charged you? did they give you a quote before you sent it off or did they have to look at it first before telling you how much it would cost. im presuming you can send it over by registered post too?

Got it for about 375 I think incl return shipping. You need to be careful with replacement used ECU's. Some of them are very specific to the particular car. I know for example that you can't swap out one for an Avensis. Doors wont open, engine wont start etc.
