    Hi All,
Hope you can help me out I have just moved into a new house and I'm trying to get a grip on things...

    1. I bought a wall mountable flat screen tv but when I mount it there is no room between the TV and the wall for the scart lead which connects the sat receiver box to the TV. The scart lead prevents the tv from sitting straight. Can I use a different cable to connect the receiver to the TV which isnt as bulky????

    2. I am using a free to air sat reveiver but I dont get any of the Irish channel???? Can i put an aerial in my attic join it to the cable coming to my Sitting room by putting some sort of T on the cable in the attic so both the irish channels and the free to air sat come over the 1 cable at the back of my TV??? Does this make any sense:confused:????

    Many Thanks,:D

The Irish channels are not and were never free to air on satellite so no surprise you do not get them :) Instead of a T you need to use a diplexer sometimes called a combiner in the attic and another diplexer next to the tv to give you two cable sagain, one for tv and one for satellite

    Hope this helps

Ok but make sure you use the correct diplexer, you may do damage otherwise

If your wall mount/bracket is a flat mount it should have came with plastic spacers 2 differant sizes that will keep your tv out from the bracket to fit in a scart cable. Nearly all of flat wall mounts have a 15degree tilt on them for cable acess and viewing height have you a link or picture to the mount you have

Ok its a small tv bracket ignore my comments on spacers and tilting. Has your receiver got either an rf out socket or av out {red/white/yellow}. if so ignore scart and use either of these to connect to your tv

You can use the TV out you will need to get a RF male to female cable at the length you want to connect to your tv. you will have to tune the tv in make sure you have your receiver switched on also at a later date you can connect an Aerial to ANT in that will also bring the Irish channels to your tv. make sure you set the output of your receiver to PAL i or else you will get no sound this can be done in the tv settings of your satellite receiver menu

If you are using RF out in Carrigaline and later plan to add an aerial with masthead amp. tune both the TV and receiver to CH36 or CH52. (591 MHZ or 727MHZ).

A flat ribbon type scart may fit behind your TV. Always use scart over RF if at all possible. Set ouput of sat.box to RGB if using scart for best picture.

Diplexers are available in Carrigaline :D

I had a similar issue with scart on my lounge tv - connecting to the kids DVD player. I just cut off about half the plastic scart cover and used masking tape to re-seal it with a lower profile. it was a cheap cable mind - but worked a treat.

And B&Q do sell the combiner/splitters - I got mine there - philex brand I think they were.
