    Would you come home?

Im currently in Australia on a working holiday visa. Having an ok time. Came over on my own and met some friends, get on ok with them. Work in an office, its grand. Come home in the evenings, sometimes do things, sometimes not. Party every weekend. Its grand.

But I miss my friends at home. I miss my family. Its not bad homesickness, I don’t have that breathtaking need to go home. Im not unhappy here. Im just not happy either.

Everyone says I should stay, must be having the life of reilly… im not really. Just doing what I do at home, except in Oz.

I could try move city but I’d have to start off from scratch again and im not really up for it.

Know things are bad at home and I’d be facing the dole but I’d have my car and independence too.

I don’t know what to do. Would you come home?

Away from home 6 months by the way.

Hi OP. It sounds like normal attack of mild homesickness and it is perfectly normal.
You appear to be only in Aussie for a working holiday so why not get on the phone and talk with a few of your buddies here this weekend.

How long will you be staying if you stay the full stint ? Is it so long to wait ? I think you will be fine.

    All the best.

You've gone a long way just to have the kind of life you have at home & you seem to be in a rut. Presume you've got another six months before you go home? Would it be possible financially for you to take maybe 3 months of that to go travelling around & see more of Oz while you're there & make it more of an experience. Just ask youself how often will you get this chance again? You might regret it if you came home now, but there's no shame in it either if you decide you really want to.

If you are near the sea then get yourself a few surf lessons.

It's coming into the summer time soon over there and that's when Australia really comes into its own.

If you're in Sydney, take a train up to a backpackers in the Blue Mountains and go on some organised walks.

Get active over the next two months and if things don't seem much better than come home.

But be warned..... it'll be dark, cold and miserable here before long. It will be wet, rainy and windy. If I was you, I'd stay for the next months for the great weather.

Sounds to me like you could just do with having one good friend there to knock around with.

Or, ditch the office job and get some outdoor work - that's what I did when I got there. I was labouring, doing demolition work, gardening and landscaping and that was when I'd meet Australians.

I had my pangs of loneliness when there but the good weather seemed to lessen that very quickly.

    Op here again.

I've been here 6 months, with 6 months left. Have done the east coast already, no real want to do the west coast.

With working so much i have enough money to last maybe 4 months in Asia on the way home, so i wont be coming right home. Just dont think Oz is the business, unless i suppose your in a gang.

Ideally i should stay here till March and then do the few months in Asia before coming home, but staying any longer than even Christmas annoys me.

Yeah beenthere i think i do need some good pals here, aquaintances arent really enough for me.

I've just made my decision without realizing haven't i!

If you have a laptop and webcam you could have SKype/Gmail beers with your mates some Friday evening. Get them to get some beers in and get some in yourself, then just chat away while having a couple of beers. :)
