I am about 10 miles West of Galway & having ditched Sky, I need to improve my RTE reception ready for Champions league. At the moment the loft aerial seems to be picking up RTE 1 & 2 on VHF from Maghera ?.

RTE 2 will be the priority & at the moment the picture on RTE 1 is much better.
So what would be the best aerial & which direction should it point in as I noticed that their were other RTE relays near Galway ?.

I found out what transmitters were best for my location, downloaded the Aerials pdf from this page: http://www.fracarro.co.uk/index.php?option=com_docman&task=cat_view&gid=100&&Itemid=250

Then worked out what UHF aerial seemed appropriate and then found a shop in the UK that would supply it.

I ended up getting an Omega 8 and now have perfect reception, but that may not be the best one for your situation.

Do you have any neighbours? You could look to see what sort of aerials they use and the direct in which they are pointing?

Alternatively your local electrical suppliers will probably sell aerials for use locally. Could be worth a shot in the first instance.

    all the best
