honestly not connected with this in any way but The Orb are playing Langtons Kilkenny on Friday night:
    http://www.langtons.ie/entertainment/

funny but tix are only on sale from the venue.

I'd bought mine a few weeks ago over the phone and just rang to confirm that it was still going ahead seems as there's nothing up on ticketbastard or anywhere else.

    see ya there maybe?

    Mick

Its a wife issue more than anything, can you help??? :D

Well she actually said I can go (I begged and said everyone else was) but one condition... I need to be back in time for my daughters swimming lesson on Saturday morning at 9am! That means I could go, stay in a hotel but would need to leave at feckin 7am or so the next morn to get home in time!!!

yea well, it's easy to see who wears the trousers in your home :D:D:D

or do the gig without beer and drive home afterwards .. which is unfortunately what I'll be doing. a get up and dance spliff just before they come on and mineral water for the next few hours and home again to Waterford. I'm playing in Cork the next day so have to keep it together for that.
If it's any help (which it's probably not) then you're welcome to spin down to Waterford and stay with us afterwards, save you the hotel costs.
We're not like the others :p

Absolutely, she defo wears the trousers, I wouldn't even dare suggest otherwise! :pac:

Yeah might be worth driving down alright and not drinking, one spliff early in the night and I'd be good to go again a few hours later... thanks for the offer but I'd say I'd need to drive back to make sure I'm home in time... I would be shot if I missed the swimming lesson!

What's it from Kilkenny to Dublin, about 2.5 hours?

about 2 would get you home. It's 2.5 from Waterford. You'd be home around 2 I'd guess.

or .... it's out there ... but here goes .... you catch the Rapid Express bus down from Dublin to Kilkenny and then catch the 02:15 late night bus back to Dublin ... Bob's yer uncle (except when he's alone in the house and becomes yer aunty Mabel)

Being home by 2 sounds good.. although the bus option lets me get some beers in... decisions, decisions...

:D the bus option was so that you could wolf down a load of 'shrooms and get the bus home afterwards ... 2 hours later :D ... beer is just taking advantage of my most excellent idea :D

almost inevitably, this has just been postponed till December.

Can't see how an event like this could happen without there being some input from the likes of ticketmaster or one of the other online vendors so that probably explains how come hardly any tix were sold.

Sorry Felix dude, yer just gonna have to do the Late Late after all and keep that spliff for another day ;)

Yeah I kinda wondered how on earth they could justify an event like this when there is little or no publicity! Unless the Kilkenny area happened to have a massive Orb fan base just itching for their next local gig...

Good stuff anyway, as it happened I wouldn't have made it regardless as I will be away tomorrow night and my flight isn't back in to Dublin till about 8pm Friday so wouldn't really have been an option. If they are playing again in the future, I can make sure I get to it.

I should make the Late Late though now for Friday, six pack of beer and popcorn to hand :pac:

    This is kinda obligatory.

Can still remember hearing the Blue Room for the first time. Incredible tune, never lost it down through the years when so much from that time has dated badly.

And the wife issue was sorted, had the 'well you go if you want' text and was going to interpret it literally and take the consequences afterwards...

    'and take the consequences afterwards...'

and we know there will always be consequences :p

Any more news on this happening?

doubt it. I just checked Langton's web site and they do have 16 December 2009 - Dicky Rock
which would be close enough once the drugs kick in :p
