    Hi guys,

I somehow managed to break the powercord for somebody elses acer travelmate (forget model number at the moment, will get it later). I broke the cable between the laptop and PSU.

ANy body know where can get just this part connecting from the PSU (mickey mouse style connector) to the laptop itself? Loads of places have them with PSU but really dont need this.

Your help would be much appreciated.

    Chris

Can you fix it? On mine they don't seperate, The Plug to PSU ( the box that does the magic with the electricity?) does though.

The Acer power cord was € 120 when I needed one - so into Maplins I went and picked up a universal adaptor for €30.

    Hope this helps.

going to have a look at it later... wish it was from plug to PSU as that would be simple to get a 3-pin plug to mickey mouse style connector but this one comes apart between PSU and laptop.

Will try a repair job and then may have to go to maplin

Please don't buy a universal adaptor. Most are rubbish. Ring Acer themselves and get a repalcement sent out or if you don't mind waiting order an original one from ebay.

I've had my maplins one for 4/5 years now, use it three days a week in the office, and the only problem was that the adaptor would get loose due to melting and changing shape from the heat, it took about a yea for tis to happen and was resolved easily enough by the addition of a vulcanised constricting device ( elastic band ). Not pretty, but it worked.

Don't knock it 'til you've tried it.
