    Hi All

Hoping someone can assist me with the following.

I have biz idea, selling Underwear/Lingerie ;) To start off it will be from home / online.

Just wondering if anyone knows where to find reliable suppliers etc?? I know most of the textile mfg in Ireland have gone now.

Also, how do you go about selling brand names? I've tried most of the web sites but they don't have the options there.

Any ideas / info would be greatfully appreciated.

    Thanks :)

Best place to start is Fashion City in Ballymount. - Nearly all manufacturers, agents & distributors are represented here.

I've a similar business to what your thinking of starting up that sells swimwear, it's a great business area if you can do it right. Selling online isn't as simple as paying someone to design a website, I've seen so many people get sucked in by evil people trying to sell cheap websites so i'd hate to see you fall into that trap. You really need to understand webdesign and online marketing to compete in such a tough sector.

Lingerie is massively competitive, with big brands already having much loyalty. You definitely need a USP and i'd suggest niching (big boobs, small boobs etc). Brands tend to be picky about who they let sell because the failure rate in lingerie is quite high and they hate people discounting (which people do as they exit). But once you have a good business plan and can prove that your business suits the brand image they're going for you'll be able to win them over.

    Heya,
From a girl's and potential customer's point of view (I buy lingerie online) I would go for this idea if I was you, and definitely base it online. I buy lingerie online when it's expensive/good quality/ french, something different etc. that I want- the rest I buy in Penny's. And I can see more and more women going down this road- BT and the likes are too expensive. Ann Summers has nice enough lingerie, but pricey enough for what it can be, and yes La Senza is cheaper than there and the expensive brands, but to me it's not any better than Penny's for that level of design and quality, so why bother? Yeah they have their customers but I'm guessing people will move more and more towards Penney's and away from La Senza.

But I would strongly advise you to sell the more design, prettier and sexier lingerie in your store at the very best prices you can possibly offer. You could offer small things for free with orders over X.
No point competing with Penny's and La senza for the cheaper stuff.

    Hope that helps somewhat.

Perhaps you should do more market research and find out what other kind of customer exists who will buy lingerie online.. not everyone will bother.
