    Hello all,

I'm looking for advice from Macbook Pro owners. I want to replace my current desktop PC with a laptop. I was initially looking at an Alienware laptop due to their high spec.

A friend suggested a Macbook as he has one and only speaks highly of them. My concern is their price and lower spec. However, I'm open to all opinions and experiences from owners out there. Thanks in advance for the advice.

I have a macbook pro and I absolutely love it. I need from college. I am a graphic designer so working on the macbook is absolutely perfect. Have not had any problems.

With regards your worries of low spec, if you get a decent macbook pro then the specs are really quite good. I work with a lot of memory intensive programs like photoshop and illustrator and have never had any real problems running them.

It's all down to what you need to get out of it yourself. One thing I will say is that mac's are very overpriced.

If you plan to be playing a lot of video games online or really intensive multitasking then by all means go for the alienware.

Yes I would like to use it for game playing. However, I wouldn't classify myself as a serious gamer.

Don't go with alienware. Rediculously over priced. Stick with an asus or a clevo. I can't really recommend any further than that. I'm sure voodu child will be along shortly to point you in the right direction as he knows alot about gaming laptops. What budget have you got?

    Well.....:D

Clevo have a new i7 based laptop coming out in a month or two, the W860CU. 15.6" 1600x900 LED-backlit screen, GTX260M (fast). Pics

Of course, you don't need i7 to game, its completely overkill for most users, but still....who says overkill is a bad thing :D

Here's the model on Cizmo, but it'll be available from a bunch of different sellers.

Just on the Alienware thing, they actually have one decently priced model at the moment, the old M17. You could configure it with Crossfire 4850s () for I think €1350 recently, now that is pretty good value. But they seem to have a shortage of those cards so they were pulled off the site. Maybe keep an eye and see if they come back. Those mobile 4850s are surprisingly close to the desktop versions (unlike most watered down Nvidia cards) and are the equal of the GTX280M.
