I have a FTA system, all set up and working fine, pointing at Astra 28.2 and receiving all the usual channels. When I go to view satellites in the menu, it says that I'm pointing at Astra 19.2 also, receiving the same signal strength. I can receive the channels from 19.2, however I cannot receive Eurosport International or MTV Germany(Central) , which are FTA and receiving signal quality of 57% , the both show up on-screen but with no audio/video, any reason as to why this is?

Are you getting any bbcs and itvs and channel 4. If so you are pointing at 28.2east. how many lnbs is there on your dish.
A lot of the transponders frequencies are the same on both satellites so you could be locked onto 28east and yet your receiver could say 19 east. If you can identify what satellite you are on then change to this in the menu also i would advise any one who sets up a new free to air system that they delete all the channels and do a rescan for free channels

Oh yeh, like I'm receiving all the other FTA channels (BBC's,ITV's, Sky News, Channel 4,5, Film 4 etc.) which is why Im just puzzled about these. In the menu I've changed it to 19.2, and all the channels still work fine, I wos just wondering if its even possible to receive them? I just have one LNB on the dish

Unless you move your dish to 19.2E, you're not going to receive any of those German channels.

The fact some frequencies can tune in, is because the same frequencies are used across many different satellites - the channels you manage to tune in however differ!

That's what I was thinking. Why then when I do a satellite scan does 19.2 show up as having the same signal strength as 28.2?

Because, as I said, they share a lot of the same frequencies.
