    Hi Folks,

Looking at the Opel vectra range, new model. Anyone driving the vectra, what do you think?
Is the Club the mid range and Design the top end?

    All comments welcome.

    Regards,
    Anthony.

There is no new model! The Vectra has been replaced with the Insignia. Is that the one you mean? Or do you mean the last model Vectra?

If you're talking about the recently replaced one, Club is mid range and Design is above it. With the choice out there I'd aim for a design spec one. Plain enough car but reliable. Not particularly exciting but really good Fiat diesel engines.

I actually wouldn't mind a design or SRi 150 brake diesel hatch with an irmscher grill...

The latest model of vectra, 08 or 09 model. Not the insignia.

Why buy an '08 when you can save buckets by buying an '06?

Hope you are getting a very, very, good deal on a Vectra.

There probably aren't many left around, I know there were some 1.6 life models in stock - avoid those like the plague. Spec line up was:

    Life (A/C and steel wheels)
    Club (A/C and structure wheels)
    SRi (Sport model)
Design (top of the range, half leather interior).

Pick of the bunch is either the SRi or Design with the 150ps diesel. I still go for an Insignia SC 130ps diesel instead of either of the above though.

    Big difference in price though.

If you will be keeping the car for the next 20 years, and are planning to drive it into the ground, go with the Vectra and save a few quid.

If your planning on trading up very soon however, I'd stump up for the Insignia.

Design by far or SRI these are the ones, that you want. SRI is the sport and design has a bit more comfort. There still are a few around. Parents had 3 and I have had 2 no problems with any of them. All have been design, but SRI is nice has sports suspension and a few nice bits outside the car. 120 BHP is fast will outrun Honda integra 1.6 I know :D and 150bhp will leep off the road. Quicker than any passat or 150bhp BMW

Was looking at the Club, but the Design range does look rather nice. Only seen the Design in diesel.

I drive a 00 astra, just looking to replace it. I do like the opel range and the vectra seems ok. Price isn't to bad for either the diesel Design or the Club. both are 08's, low mileage.

The Vectra was a mediocre car 5 years ago. Now it's trully out-classed. The Insignia however is in a different league. The best car in it's class, something which the Vectra never was.
Save 2 or 3 grand more and just buy a far better car - the Insignia.
