Chronograph...worth buying?

    Hey folks,

Just looking for some opinions here. Do you think it's worth the money to buy a chronograph? I'm only starting in Airsoft, but I intend on working on all the ones I own...so in my head it'd be handy to be able to test and make sure that they're all compliant. I was looking at a cheap enough one:

It'd be handy to have, but I'm not sure if the handyness outweighs the cost. I find its far too easy to buy things you don't need when ordering online. So I said I'd see what ye thought?

    Thanks!

I don't find that buying a chronograph is worth it unless you do a lot of upgrading/ repairs, besides, any skirmish site or retailer worth their salt will gladly do it for you, cookie's may be required. If you find you will be doing a lot of upgrades/repairs go for it and get one. Apparently the Guarder one is great.

If you are buying a chrono id strongly reccomend you not getting the cheapest one available, especially that one.

This is why you guys are awesome!

The amount of upgrading I'd be doing would be limited to mostly cosmetic, but some functional. So I reckon you're dead on with not bothering...as I said, I find it too easy to lose track when ordering online

I dismantled and rebuilt one gun so many times in one evening alone that in terms of petrol money to and from sites/shops it more that paid for my chrono.

    I have the Xcortext x3200

If you can afford it then why not; they're very handy to have esp. if you start tinkering with the guns.

+1 Like Alternate said - more than worth it from so many points.
If you are looking at doing any mods or upgrades and even just outta curosity - I'd highly recommend getting one. You can always sell it on...

I have the madbull chrono and been using it for well over a year without a hitch. The new version II is much the same but has a rechargable battery/external psu I think.

Well what kind of internal upgrades would you be doing because some of the things might not increase the power at all so that would mean no need for a chrono.

+1 on not skimping. Both big dragon chronos I've seen were complete rubbish. Go fr the madbull or the xcortech.

Ebaybanned have the xcrtech x3200 for 85 shipped, which is not a bad price at all -- http://www.ebairsoft.com/xcortech-x3200-shooting-chronograph-p-2513.html -- that's one of the ones they use in Eirsoft I believe.

Upgrades I'd be doing (including cosmetic):
    - New Barrels (inner and outer)
    - Different Spring Guides
    - Some spring experimentation
    - Different hop up units

I reckon I'll eventually buy a chrono, but I think I'll leave it until I have more experience, and until I actually require solid use of one.

well any of them would, in my opinion at least lead to you needing the services of a chrono to confirm fps as any individual change you have listed can result in a charge in fps of 10 - 20 fps ish

Haha, I've had a bad experience with spring guides:rolleyes:
Got a systema bearing'd spring guide just coz the stock one looked sorta worn.
Anyway, took it down to The Warehouse next day to play and it was shooting at between 1.05 and 1.1j!:( Had to rent a gun and have now ordered an xcortech x3200 from g-military for less than €70 shipped w/ speedpost! PS obviously I put the old pring guide in as soon as I got home.
