Am i right in thinking that they have reduced the rrp of the 80 gb to 299 and the rrp of the slim (1120 gb) is 299?

If this is the case why would anyone buy the older model?

If the older model is cheaper - anyone know a good place to get one?

The slim does not have a 1120gb HDD. It is 120GB.

Personally I would prefer the look of the older Playstation 3. If you want a bigger hard drive then it is very easy to upgrage.

they shrunk the die of the proccessor on the slim one, so less heat... also there are reports of the slim line PS3 been faster than the original

The slim is a bit smaller and having the extra HDD space without having to upgrade helps, plus the slim is incredibly quiet, far more quiet than either the PS3 phat or XBox 360.

HMV are doing a bundle of a PS3 Slim plus Assasin's creed and one other game for €300

I don't know where all this talk of noise is coming from. Never any noise from my original 60GB or its replacement 80GB unless played for hours and hours. Even then, it certainly wasn't loud enough to interfere with games or movies.

Sorry the 1120 was a typo rather than ignorance. Although a 1.1 TB hard drive would be appealing.
