    Hi

Can anyone recommend a hill walking club or mountaineering club in Dublin that is suitable for a beginner in their 20s? I would also like to get mountaineering qualifications.

    Many thanks in advance.

In Dublin I would go with the IMC (http://www.irishmountaineeringclub.org/) or try the clubs pages on http://www.mountaineering.ie/.

    Hi,

I was in the exact same situation as you for a long time, I ended up doing Mountain Skills Courses (1 & 2),

I would definitely recommend doing these as they teach a lot about navigation etc,

I found mountaineering or rock climbing much harder to get into, Still kind of trying but from Dublin Hiking or Backpacking etc is fairly accesible once you have an idea what to do (Don't get lost :-))

Any more advice i can give you Id be happy too as i have spent many years in the same situation,

    S

I guess this is a bad time of year to do this also!
