RTE, Entourage & Sky Plus

RTE are driving me nuts by runnung Entourage late, so any time I record it on Sky Plus to watch it later, I miss the end. I know for a fact that I'm not the only one with this problem. I work in RTE and while ranting and raving about this in work, I came across someone who had received an email complaining about it too. They don't show re-runs and when it's on late it's because the Sunday Game overran. As the Sunday Game is considered much more important than Entourage, nothing was done to curb its invasion of Entourage's slot and so, us Entourage fans got screwed. I've tried buying the episodes that I missed the end of on iTunes but you can't unless you're in the US.

    Rant over.

I understand that this post is a little pointless but I needed to get this off my chest and no one in my house is awake. Maybe someone else with this problem has a solution or would like to add to my rant.

Recording anything on RTE using Sky plus is always a bit dodgy. I always find myself recording the program after my desired program just so I don't miss the ending.

There is a setting on sky+ which allows you to record an extra 5/10 or whatever amount of minutes to the beginning and end of your recordings automatically. it'd be under sky+ settings somewhere. rarely have the problem myself but the option is there if you need it

Watch it on the RTE player.

I second that, I usually skip to the end before I watching anything recorded from RTE as I've previously had the misfortune of watching something only for the recording to finish 5 minutes before the program ended.

And on one occasion RTE showed an episode of The Practise I think it was at the time Life was supposed to be on, I think they just never updated their guide in Sky+.

I remember watching Lost on RTE. I had recorded it via Sky + and out of nowhere it just cut to Naked Camera. I was very confused.

You'll have to record the entire day's schedule to get the program you want. :)

Oh does anyone notice that sometimes on the Sky + guide for RTE 2 that the information for the Simpsons is always wrong? They give details for the episode that is due to be shown for the following day.

    Small gripe but meh.

So why don't you go into the Head of Scheduling and ask him to explain his scheduling of the show and why RTÉ don't show repeats?

Had the same issue so now i just record it and the program after it.

3e had the same issue with 30rock but you could miss the start or end of that so i ended up taping the one before and after to be sure. Considering it was on in the middle of the bleeding night it's surprising how the fecked the timing up so badly.

I do this too whenever I'm recording on RTE. I do have my sky box set to record an extra few minutes but this doesn't always work as RTE can be more than 20 minutes behind sometimes.
