Armageddon Gone?

In the new PG era, WWE has changed the Armageddon pay-per-view on 12/13 in San Antonio, Texas to a TLC-themed event. Ticketmaster.com has the show listed as the following:

WWE World Wrestling Entertainment - TLC: Tables, Latter & Chairs

Presumably, they mean "Tables, Ladders & Chairs."

I got this info off nodq.com

Submission, Hell in a Cell, Elimination chamber and now a possible TLC PPV. I guess WWE are trying to sell PPVs based on the match type rather than the Feuds.

that means that the main events for the next 4/5 PPVs will be themed most likely.

    Breaking point: submission matches
    HIAC: self explanitory
Bragging rights: Replacement for Cyber Sunday
    Survivor Series: tag-team elimination matches
TLC: self explanitory again i guess

and even Bragging rights may keep some form the of voting related concept that Cyber Sunday had so who know perhpas they will all be themed PPVs

another interesting thing about this too would be it would be a TLC PPV withput either Edge or Jeff Hardy most likely.

Survivor Series: Double Elimination chambers i'd guess

Why? I thought the Elimination Chambers were used for No Way Out? Do we know there'll be Elimination Chamber Matches at Survivor Series?

I think this many themed PPVs is a mistake. Maybe every 2 or 3, but a possible 5 in a row?

And why not keep the names at least? Make them themed, but if anything, keep the names. Armageddon, Unforgiven, No Mercy... they were some of the best names.

I was hoping last year that Unforgiven from now on would have Scramble matches as the main event every year. I thought it was a pretty good concept.

One last point, the name Bragging Rights is terrible. Really really terrible

actually your right i got them mixed up cos iirc it was introduced at SS but it is No Way Out that its used in both main events for now

From a Revenue point of view it could be genius. Most people consider wwe to have too many PPVs as they all start to blend into one. Using the themes makes them all individual.

Older Fans are more likley to buy a PPV or the DVD of a themed event. If each event turns out well the potential for DVD sales could be very good.

If they feel its overkill they can always go back to the old PPV names and formats.

I suppose having the Survivor series match makes it Survivor Series a themed event. The Royal Rumble is a themed event. No Way Out is themed, Wrestlemania is well... Wrestlemania.

Wouldn't surprise me to see a return of King of the Ring next year, maybe even for one of the Heavy weight titles to make it into something bigger.

Night of Champions would be classed a themed event too

Which leaves Backlash, Judgement Day, The Bash, Summerslam and Wrestlemania (or could you count WM as it has the Money in the Bank match every year?)

    There are too many PPVs

At this rate they are going to kill every big match they have, they rely too heavily on gimmick matches these days mainly because they have the same guys facing each other month after month and in their eyes they keep the matchups fresh through an erray of gimmicks ( see HHH vs Orton) but it doesn't work people don't want to see the same matches over and over, the big gimmick matches eg HIAC are for killing off fueds but that doesn't happen anymore they plow right on through to the next high risk match

I thought a lot of the current names were quite good. Backlash, Unforgiven, No Mercy, Armageddon. They're pretty good names

No but what wrecks my head is when they try to incorporate the name of the ppv into a promo "Next Sunday night there'll be no way out for Orton at....NO WAY OUT!"

    laziness

I hate that they just slap these gimmicks onto PPV's to get more buys when well built feuds with new stars with a story people can understand and relate to and matches people want to see will do the job much, much more effectively.

They'll probably stop it once they realise that only some people they have can do a TLC match, or a submission match. I'd like to see Triple H fall from a ladder into a table. Every tendon would snap at once, he'd be a human venetian blind.

HHH had an awesome ladder match with the Rock at Summer Slam years ago. Granted he ain't up to that kind of thing and can't perform at that level anymore cos of injuries and age, but I reckon he would still be able to pul off a decent TLC match with the right opponant

Yeah, that was like 11 years ago or something. I'm not saying he couldn't do one, but crowd expectations of TLCs have been led by Jeff Hardy jumping from high things, and Edge killing himself against the Undertaker, and the current crop of Raw Mains like Randy, HHH and Cena (well, maybe Cena) don't give the impression that they'll work the high risk style that TLC epitomises.

I suppose you could stick someone in against him who would throw himself through everything to make the match work, to be fair.

hhh did have a good but short ladder match againist hbk in 2003 in 3 stages of hell think he could pull it off if with the right person

I thought that match was absolute rubbish.

Booking HHH in a TLC match would be ludicrous. Regardless of whether he could or couldn't make it work, it isn't worth the health risks. That said, I imagine given the right opponent, who would take the riskier bumps, he'd be up for it, but I'm not sure it would be any good unless he was the heel.

There's no way Orton should be in a TLC match. They're going to need him for years to come, and his history of shoulder injuries rules him out for me.

The right person being someone who's willing (or told to) bump like a maniac for him and do all the work.

Looking at the mainpage at http://www.wwe.com/, it seems that TLC has been place at 11-22 which is the date for Survivor Series
Armageddon is still up at 12-13??

    Surley this is a typo

The stupid thing is Breaking point isnt even properly themed as all the matches should be submission based in some way or another. If they wanted to rip off Tna they should have at least done it correctly(Lockdown). War Games cant be too far away now. New match types are well over due.
