The thing that made Assassins Creed 1 pretty dull were very specific complaints that everyone who played it was quite vocal about, overall the game was great so i'd say they took those on board for AC2. Im banking on AC2 being great.

im with gonzo there wasnt a whole lot wrong with the orginal just the repetitive and with 12 or so missions in the new one thats pretty much sorted

and the ease of fighting ha although it was really enjoyable with the close ups so the various enemy types should make it more fun

    AND SWIMMING WOO
also apperently they are make it easier to be stealthy not like the last wear you would end up cutting through a fair few guards to get your target most of the time

As you pass through a crowd you can pick pocket and a new way to escape is to throw coins on the ground so crowds will block anybody chasing you.

I liked the first one, looking forward to the second one alot.

I'm looking forward to it but definitely going to wait for a lot of reviews/opinions here and a possibly a demo before going for it. I was very disappointed with the first one because it had huge potential but got boring pretty much right after the first mission...

From what I've seen I'm going to give it a nay. It seems to be making the exact same mistakes as the first game with really scripted assassinations and I presume crappy repetitive (but this time less so) missions. The scripted missions are a big no no for me. The game would benefit so much more if they went for gameplay more like Hitman.

    coin thing sounds cool!
can you pickpocket different things in this one or still just daggers?
I liked the first one, looking forward to the second one alot.

I'm still playing through the first one, about 66% through. Is a bit repetitive alright, it does get better when the guards get smarter and stronger, its bad though when you can win a fight against 10 armed guards.

I would have to play the demo of the new one or see some unrepetitive differences. I will wait till you lot buy it first :D

we should start making threads about the upcoming games if it's a yay or nay so we should see the opinion of others... :D

its not that im looking forward to it but ill give it a shot for sure. The controls and fluency of the movement in the first one was pretty impressive and unique. However it was very repetitive and the combat was dull. Whats this i hear about a flying machine in the new one?

ya i heard that too..one of da vinci's inventions..you get to meet him too which is pretty cool

although the flying machine which is da vinci's glider was proven incapable of flight by mythbusters ha

It's a yay from me. I played the PC version though which had 4 additional mission types (archer assassination, rooftop race challenge, merchant stand destruction challenge and escort challenge)

I was continually confused by people saying there wasn't a lot of variety in Assassins Creed until I read about the PC versions additional side missions. The archer assassination time trials I found particularly good, as you had to use stealth and speed while moving. You had to make judgements as to which archers could see other archers and in which order to assassinate them.

Without these 4 additional modes I do agree the game would of been boring. If you haven't yet, I'd recommend playing the PC version of the game, it's the superior version.

I can't wait for this, thought the first one was great and though some people didn't like it for it being repetitive and going by everything so far it seems as that won't be a problem

I only got the original a few weeks ago. Loved it at first - beautiful looking game with fluid controls and very immersive. Then started to get annoyed by the problems of repetative gameplay, bash-X combat and and repetative voices ("i'll have your hand for that!"). Still playing it however.

Apparently the new one has fixed those issues, and it also looks fantastic.

    So yay.

It's a yay for me, I'm looking forward to it. I had no problems with the first with except the ending. Hadn't a clue what that was about

ya that was about a 10 on the random scale

Please just give me control over how I handle assassination missions. Only about 3 in the original would let you perform a stealth kill and it was so tight and scripted anyway. I killed one of the targets in a way that the game didn't allow in the first game, by knocking him off a building and the game glitched for me. We don't need to have altair or whoever hovering of the guy before he dies having a nice little 1 to 1.

Agree with that. Also i hope the new guy will actually have an Italian accent, i know they made their excuses about Altair but for gods sake hes supposed to be a muslim assassin in the 12th century holy land or something and he has this offputting yank accent.

Isn't he a Crusader? In which case he sould have a French/central European accent, but one from the middle ages before we had modern French.

    Either way; American didn't work.

I wouldn't say that to any muslims face let alone altairs.

    hehe

No, but there is a stagecoach mission where you transport people to different cities
You can now swim in the canals of Venice
You do missions for buddies/guilds to earn their trust and they in return help you in the storyline missions
    More types of weapons
    You can change clothes

    All reminisent of GTA

New Gameplay Video, looks the exact same as the other one to be honest. Also there seems to be underground sections like Infamous

Nay from me but Ill probably end up getting it.

Hopefully the present day storyline is a bit more interesting. AC1 was just pants. Desmond needs to go Jason Bourne and smash his way out of that facility.

To be honest though its probably one of the best of a mainly mediocre group of games been released during the Xmas season (MW2 and Uncharted 2 withstanding)

Thats the problem with a lot of games, the focus is on a trival albeit cool piece of programming. Someone forgot to put a decent story and game behind the small features like the throwing of coins etc.

It is a bit like making a film with CGI experts but no director.

I felt the present day story a bit lame aswell, it didn't seem to lead anywhere

The first one had some terrific ideas which got drowned in all the flaws. As somebody stated above though, the gripes were specific enough that they've hopefully been addressed since.

My main reservation was the new setting; as repetitive as the first one was, the one thing that kept dragging me back was the fairly unique - for a video game - holy land setting. Venice looks a bit too much like at least one city in every Final Fantasy. :D

I think its a yay from me. Once they sort out the repetition I'll be sorted. I had no problem getting all the info, but seeing as every information trail was the same, it just got tedious. Cannot wait to get this!
