What do you think they should introduce to TCD?

Personally I think someone should set up a rollerblading club/society thing, because I've seen no mention of one and I don't know how to set up a club :( lol

Quazar? What are you 12, and is this really 1995?

    They should introduce fees.

I've heard that it could do with another student bar as an alternative to the Pav, not sure how accurate that is though.

AFAIK it's really hard to set up a club/soc; you have to be pretty serious about what you're gonna do, plan how the soc/club will be sustainable when you've left etc. It's not like in other Uni's like DCU where I know they have a home & away club, and possibly a scooting club and a Pot Noodle appreciation society.

The Pav should've been left alone but a new food counter fitted, capable of providing good pub food.

Luce Hall should simply have an area with a few couches, microwave, tea and coffee facilites etc, basically the JCR on a grander scale,
the rest of the building should be converted into a large, student bar with a stage area suitable for ents gigs etc on campus.
The top floor should be converted into rooms that societies can book

One library should open 24hrs with access for ALL students

I always thought the idea of a massive Christmas Tree in Front Square was a good one.

Which reminds me; they need something epic to replace the tree they cut down at the Nassau street entrance.

Reintroducing the SCRG would be nice.

The Student Computing Research Group. Back in the day, it was an official research group in the CS department run by and for undergrads in CS and C.Eng who'd take on various research projects. Microkernels, micromouse robotics projects, various other things. Died out back in 1997/1998 around the time people stopped thinking of college as an education and started thinking of it as a place where you got Yet Another Piece of Paper before you started work in industry (a move, by the way, which has seriously damaged industry. Anyone working in IT in Ireland will tell you, there's never been a shortage of jobs in IT, but there's always been a shortage of people who can actually do the job).

    All year round too!

On a more serious note, if they had the money more student services should be provided. Expanded City centre halls of residence (There are quite a few blocks of apartments going for cheap at the moment and they are thinking of doing it in fairness). Microwaves and a campus off licence, a Student centre, An undergraduate 24hr reading room (this wasn't a success before though). Allowing more sports access to college park. Upgrading the paths and surfaces around the college, its like a bad patchwork quilt at the moment. A second student bar would be nice however the last one closed due to lack of patronage. Replace all the prefabs with proper buildings too.

Forget a second bar, why not go for a nightclub on campus?

We'll have it underground, in the catacombs!

It'd be nice to get a new on-campus rifle range, the old one is beyond tatty at this point...

an actual student centre. as in, not the JCR. somewhere that isn't just a glorified sandwich bar with a couple of couches

lol, what was up with that?

They should get rid of the cricket pitch, let students drink on it.
If not a tcd nightclub then at least a late licence for the pav.
Also netsoc should have a trolling night and we should have a parkour society.

Also microwaves. And dimming the lights for lectures (it makes it so much easier to focus on the screen). And a naked party.

TCD should have better facilities to cater for its local fauna - foxes, ducks, swans, pigeons etc. Never see anything as tragic as a pair of ducks trying to shag in a puddle, worse than a Trocaire ad.

A microwave facility for every undergrad.

    A student only carpark

SU off licence (kick those dusty chaps out)

Subsidised condom machine in the girls and mens jacks

GLory hole proof doors in the Hamilton

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 13,034 ✭✭✭✭It wasn't me!

New rifle range, outdoors, with electronic targets, to minimal international standards.

    Student car-parking facilities.

Vastly increased student accomodation at a reasonable price.

24 hour library access - I'd take this over everything else. Ridiculous to leave at ten.

Give the Motorcycle Club a new lease of life.

It's not THAT hard... just gotta get signatures and write a constitution. Of course, if you're trying to set up a ridiculous society it might be trickier, particularly the latter.

I would love some microwave facilities. I could eat lunch then. >.<

Also more indoor spaces to hang out down the east end. I know science students are antisocial freaks with no friends, but it'd still be nice to have somewhere decent to hang with our imaginary ones... that ISN'T across the road/often full/crappy chairs anyway.

Also, reintroducing/reopening the westland row entrance opposite Pearse street DART station.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 760 ✭✭✭ZWEI_VIER_ZWEI

Didn't the queers in health and safety make some bull**** claim that more chairs in the East End wouldn't be possible? Which is pretty much absolute ******ry, when you look, and think about it.
