Just wondering if the student discount applies to online order only or to resellers nationwide also?

I'm considering buy a 13" MBP for college, and would prefer to get it in person rather then order it online (I'm highly impatient). I was in a known reseller recently enquiring about the discount and he said it was only available online - although I have my doubts as the sales person had no clue about Snow Leopard

Would I also be able to participate in the discount up North with my ROI student ID?

    Many thanks.

I've been told by every Apple customer service member I've spoken to on the phone that you will get your Student Discount if you buy in an Apple Store. Maybe it doesn't apply to resellers but it does to official Apple stores. I was wondering this myself and made sure I knew what the situation was.

Also, I was told I'd be able to get the student discount in Ireland (I have a UK student card) so I'd imagine it would work the other way around. When I order it on the phone in the end they never even asked about my student status, just give me the discount without question - strange.

Student discount is available only in select Resellers. these are called Apple Solution experts in Education.

I'm Pretty sure PC world and 3G stores don't do it. (I May be wrong)

Apple resellers don't get the same iPod deal as the apple stores or Apple online. Apple won't let them in on it. it's their way of cutting out the middle man so you deal direct...

discounts can also vary as apple has started apple on campus where they have an apple rep at your university. its not at every uni yet so don't assume they have a deal. it also varies the discount from uni to uni. discounts from resellers won't vary at all though you may squeeze them a little, or get a free bag etc. but definitely no free ipod :(

    in Dublin the ASE's are

    The Mac Shop
    Typetec

    Galway

    Galmac Computers
    Screenway

    Cork

    Stream Solutions
    ATmac

    Limerick
    CompuB

This is true, I bought mine from apple online store a few years ago because this was only place that the student discount applies. If you have a link between your educational institute and the apple website, discount is usually a little bit bigger.

The Mac Shop in Merrion Square offer a student discount, as I got one about four months ago.
