have special offers, so if you can watch them and buy what you need on special it will save you a bit, you can also collect so no delivery charge.

Printing business cards etc/ yourself is probably not economical and bad quality. Depends on the volume you need.

vistaprint...google them....they do it so cheap you will wonder how they survive. Nearly everyone I know gets almost free business cards from them. I have no commercial attachment to them....I used to support Irish printers / stationary suppliers but they charged ten times as much.

I second Jimmmy on Vista - fab service - actually just sent in a third order over the weekend.

I agree with the other posters here... shop around and consider using services over seas for bigger jobs if needs be. Can't imagine you could make it worth your while to get in the machinery unless you are doing big volume.

Ye, I don't think get your own equipment is the way to go - a lot of extra expense and effort..I have used Reads in town in the past to get business cards and was happy with the price and product I got from them...

How much do you print? You'd be looking at 22k investment and a good bit of hand cutting to do as good a job as you'd do in reads (I bought one of these recently for a client).

I too use VistaPrint (.co.uk is cheaper), I've been using them for my business cards for about 5/6 years.

I'm an ex-printer (10 years experience) and there was a great machine we use to use called a Riso, it was single colour machine that could print 6,000 A4 sheets per hour, it was a fantastic machine, it was basically a photocopier.

Here's a great video on YouTube about these machines.

    Edit: Another good one.

I don't mean to be a snob but to be honest when I get handed a business card with vistaprint on the back, I can't help thinking 'cheapskate'.

If someone isn't prepared to spend approx 1 cent per card on their business then I'm afraid it gives the wrong impression.

Thoughts go through my head such as ... "if he takes short cuts with his own business, why should I trust him not to take short cuts with his products/services with my business"

I'm all for achieving better value and keeping costs down, but there is a limit.

By the way, your local business card printer can be an absolute goldmine for referrals and recommendations ... see it as an opportuntity rather than a spend.....talk to him!

My business cards don't have "Vistaprint" or anything on the back. I designed the cards myself and uploaded the design the Vistaprint site.

I don't hand them out to people or customers, they are in my shop on the service counter, and people take them if they want to, and they always do, usually they take about 10 per customer, so anyone who gets my card, get it from a previous customer.

    They work for my business.
