applied physics?

    hi everyone, im thinking of studying applied physics in college because i really enjoyed it as a leaving cert subject and found it interesting i have a few questions about it though and if you are able to reply please do. 1) is it much different from leaving cert physics 2) and after i graduate is there a lot of jobs available and do they pay well? thanks in advance for your responses

    Hi,

    1) Very different, but if you like LC physics you should like it. It would be worth noting though that even simple LC stuff like Newton's Laws will be approached from a very different angle, so you're best off not to assume you already know it :)

    2)Apologies, if this is a murky answer.
    There are definitely jobs available (the quality of your degree and work experience will no doubt help:)).As for the pay well I'd say it's reasonable to expect little under 30k per year starting off does that sound reasonable?
    Note : I don't know the exact answer to this question, just making what I would consider a reasonable guess.

    thanks, i really enjoyed lc physics and it was one of my best subjects, but i hated mechanics whats this like in the course? is it much harder than leaving cert physics and is there a lot of maths?

    What university is the course in? Is it the applied physics couse in UL? If you tell us what course it is, we'll be able to answer more specific questions.

    In case you didn't know, it averages the highest pay of the sciences: http://www.jupiterscientific.org/sciinfo/sciencesalaries.html (in the US at least...)
