I hope this thread is best placed here instead of the edu section.

I'm trying to figure out what is the best next step for my younger sister who has completed her leaving cert and a PLC course on Business and Secretarial skills. She hadn't enough points to get a course through CAO and completed the PLC course to give her time to figure out what to do next. Problem is she hasn't figured that out yet and doesn't know where to go.

Are there any courses available to pay for privately to do a business degree. We've looked through the NCI, DBS, Griffith websites and they all appear to require minimum leaving cert grades.

She is now looking to do a course of degree level or cert/diploma with option of degree afterwards in the business field but can't seem to find anything available.

What is the best next step? Resit leaving cert, find a course or do some relevant work experience (if it can be found)?

Is an independent career guidance counselor worthwhile. Anyone have any recommendations or advice?

Work experience will never go amiss.

She might be better off to get into work, and then apply for study later as an adult student: different entry criteria, and if she's lucky a company may even help sponsor her.
