Kill grass around hedging

    Hi,

I have planted around 250 meters of escallonia (170) and Leylandii (80) around 6 months ago outside my fence.

They are making progress and only a few have died (which has surprised me as I never planted these before) but there is a lot of grass growing around them.

I am planning on spraying some very dilute roundup around them to clear this.

Can anyone offer any advise on whether this is advisiable?

The Leylandii also have the supporting sticks attached and I was wondering when should these be removed?

    Cheers,
    Lastbuilders

Go easy with the roundup... Make sure its a very calm day. My neighbour bruned and killed about 500 meters of new hedge...
    Not nice

Use a hood on the sprayer. Less chance of doing damage

I am expecting you in about 4 to 5 years to pose the following questions ---- How do you contain Leylandi , how do you dispose of the cuttings !

    Good luck with that "Tree"
