To fry or not...

Bacon, eggs, sausage and some pudding? Or stick to the healthy diet and keep the weight off... you decide.

Ever get a craving for something that you know is bad for you and undo all that hard work done over the past few months. Of course you have :). Do you find it hard to resist temptation? How do you fight the urge? I want a fecking fry now... :(

What odd cravings do you get?

I'm with BOF - fry. Then go for a run or something if you feel bad.

Everything I don't like is either woke or fascist - possibly both - pick one.

What the ****'s wrong with a fry? Unhealthy my arse. I weight lift continents after a good greasy gristly runny egged fry FFS. Couldn't do that with a wedge of feckin' grape fruit or an oul slice of toast.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 12,778 ✭✭✭✭Kold

Scrape the lettuce out of last night's half eaten kebab that was on your pillow last night and ram it into the microwave you posh tart.

I've been thinking about donuts for the past week but I've tried to ignore it. I think it might be affecting my mental health.

    Have the fry, OP.

    I prefer a grill to a fry-up.

Nothing worse than everything on your plate swimming in oil, not because it's unhealthy.. it's just fcuking disgusting

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,686 ✭✭✭Kersmash

Why is this even a question?! Have the fry FFS!

You got to use all of your kitchen real estate when cooking the fry. How else do you fit in bacon, sausages, eggs, puddins, potato bread, fried potato, tomato and mushrooms? If it doesn't contain enough food to choke a horse then it's not a proper sunday fry. Also you can't grill an egg.

I still fry the eggs, flipped over ftw.. runny yokes are blah, I always put it on some kitchen roll to drain the oil off too

Fried bread? You may aswell just fry a sponge, was never too fussed on that but fried leftover potatoes are delicious. I'm gonna make a grill now, I'm drooling here

What harm can the odd fry do, as long as it doesnt become regular and you adopt the diet of a trucker

Have the fry but cook using olive oil :)

    mmm fry-ups.
high levels of cholesterol, denaturated salt, laced with MSG for extra flavour ,with the enzymes cooked out of the meat to ensure it can't be properly digested and high levels of acid associated with pork.
    tasty though.

lol, wtf kind of planet are you living on?

OP, fry!!! But poach the egg.

Put some kitchen tissue paper (wtf is it called?) on a plate and put the food on that to soak up the oil, then transfer to a nice warm plate, serve with 2 slices of toast.

For the record, I just had a double whopper with fries covered in salt & ketchup, so I'm good.

There's a mild and light olive oil that is very bland..

dont forget the beans, after you've cooked everything empty a tin o beans into the frying pan, slap in some brown sauce stir it in let fry away for a few minutes, bloody gorgeous !!!!:D

Olive oil is no longer good for you once you heat it, it turning into a trans fats.

Use the grill man, it tastes the exact same, if not better than a fry. It gets rid of a good deal of the fat. Although you might work hard at keeping fit, there are times when you can treat yourself...just keep it in moderation.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 1,883 ✭✭✭wudangclan

    yeah.
    george formby ftw.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 8,813 ✭✭✭BaconZombie

And then you can collect the fat and use it to cook other stuff.

Bacon fat makes anything taste better.

    ^^^^^^^^

This. The grill is for bacon, and a couple of sausages if they'll fit. I'd also have a bowl of beans in the microwave. Nice to see mushrooms getting their due. They elevate a good fry to a Great Fry.

OP. I believe a slice of McCambriges fried in a mixture of oil and Butter is lower in calories than pure butter, if you're looking for the healthy option.

I thought that was a myth

I thought that was a myth

It doesn't hydrogenise but it does oxidise at smoke point level. So pure virgin olive oil is unsuitable for frying. Mild and light olive oil has a much higher smoke point though.

I use extra virgin olive oil for everything... O.o Well not in the deep fat frier, which is rarely rarely used.

    I sure did...

2 fried eggs, mushrooms, corgette, 4 hicks sausages (dun laoighre) some hicks black and white pudding, 3 rashers and 2 slices of toast. Oh and a mug of tae... nyom nyom nyom... There's some left for tomorrow too :)

    tomato and mushrooms?

Best way to cook mushrooms for a grilled breakfast is gently in a pot with some black pepper, habanero tabasco, crushed garlic and a dash of orange juice, then drain when ready

try it before you diss it

and tomatoes are best raw imo

Just to conduct heat so they cook more evenly, the other ingredients kill off the sweetness.. it's nice, trust me =p
