I have a plastic lense to cover an amber light and it has been covered in overspray and universal thinner:mad:. What can I use to remove the stains and get it back into showroom condition, ie crystal clear

I had a pair of semaphores from a VW that were covered in paint and overspray, I used cutting compound to clean them up. It will take time. Don't use cellulose, It will destroy the plastic.

get a plastic bag and put the covers inside (ziploc is best)
then spray in lots of Mr Muscle oven cleaner (the foam kind)
tie the plastic bag closed and leave it for 2 hours.

then take out the lenses and rinse them off in the sink
if there is any paint left use Brasso wadding (small round tin full of cotton) and a small bit of elbow grease to remove it.

Brasso also removes scratches from any perspex type plastic parts ;)

well the paint removing worked, tried the rubbing compound but wasnt good. Then tried the Mr Muscle foam in a bag and eventually I removed all the paint. However the Thinner cloud/paint cleaner residue still hasnt dissappeared so what can I use to remove this? The lense is still cloudy.

    Why not try using petrol?

I tried the petrol solution on the clear indicators but it wasnt any good, its ok on amber or red indicators where paint overspray is prevalent. Ive yet to buy the brasso.
