I am thinking of joining Druids Heath and played there today. The course condition wasn't what I expected. The greens were covered in pitch marks and the fairways were covered in un-repaired divots also the bunkers were out of play due to heavy rain in the week. Is this condition normal or is it just the end of a tough summer season. If there are any members on here what state are the greens in on a Sunday morning for a comp as they were very poor today with spike and pitch marks.

When I joined earlier this year the fairways were fine. In recent months they have gone downhill a lot, it doesnt take much to replace a divot or fix a pitch mark. It is just pure ignorance. It seems the new members dont care about the club and the condition they leave it in. The bunkers are unbelieveable. Played there on Friday and Saturday, they are in a bad way. Still I think its worth it. Its a tough course.

    Well Said Pataman.

I cant agree more. I was playing last Saturday and there was a 3 ball in front of us. for 3 holes they failed to repair Pitch marks and Divots. I let the first and second ones go but when I saw them walking off on the 3rd & 4th I actullay walked up to them on the tee box and confronted them. I think they were shocked but it worked.

Come on members lets have some respect

Its probably safer to simply notify an official at the club.
My father was playing at Elm Green 2 years ago and when he complained about a guy for not shouting fore the bloke picked out my fathers putter and broke it over his knee.
It ruined his round and needless to say he has not returned to the club in question.

Entirely my thoughts. I am on the committee at my current club, a small club in Cheshire with very limited funds (under 10k for improvements and only 3 full time green staff but the green there are excellent. If the greens were in that condition on a Saturday we would loose about 50% of our membership within a season. Like I said despite this I will join the club, maybe if the members make a stand it will get sorted.

Although the members should be made repair their own pitchmarks, the greens there a few years ago used to be immaculate. This was down to two reasons. The first being that there used to be a hell of a lot less traffic on the course. The second reason was the course ranger at the time (since retired). He would do his round every morning and literally repair EVERY pitch mark on every green.
With regards to fairway divots, members should make sure the divots are not only replaced, but replaced properly. Stand on the divot - do not leave it high as the fairways moher will just shred it the following morning.

i'm thinking of joining next year myself, played there on saturday and liked it a lot(esp. the back nine).I've never seen so many unrepaired marks and divots, personally i think a lot of the time the birds ate to blame re the divots but no excuse with the pitchmarks, the 1 main blemish re the course is the last hole, bunkers on the fairway and no definition to the hole at all
