What are your thoughts on it? In a mix with drums, bass, electric guitar and vocals will you apply some on the acoustic?

I rarely ever use reverb on guitars as reverb by it's nature can take up quite a bit of space in the mix.

I thought it was used to make space or give a sense of space! Maybe I should just revisit the EQ side of things for a bit of shimmer.

The more reverb I hear in a mix the less detail I hear in a mix but you are right. Reverb on toms and snare will create a big spacious sound, vocals too, but I was talking about guitars in particular. Reverb on bass guitar is way too much in general as the lower frequencies get lost altogether. So yeah horses for courses as they say try it and A/B it on a mix and post it here and give us a listen. I saturated toms in a mix last week with reverb because we wanted a big huge almost jungle like sound off the kit and it certainly sounded big. I didn't put any reverb on the guitars as I felt the reverb was 'cluttering' the mix. Choose it wisely :)

Too many variables to give an absolute answer.

Sometimes yes, sometimes no, depends entirely on context.
