What do you eat for lunch and what do you spend?
Speaking to those who travel from home really.

Purchase a decent thermos flask with a wide mouth and make pasta/soup/stews. You'll save a fortune. I try to make my own lunch as often as possible. I prefer warm lunches to sandwiches so this saves me a fortune as college prices vary from €3.50 to €8 depending on what you're getting in general. You can get hot food, sandwiches and wraps form a few places on campus and nearby but if you want to save money try get into a habit of making your own. It's really handy once you get used to it.

Oh, and for those days when you just have to have something convenient go to the spar by Shanowen, not the one on campus. They have taco sauce and garlic sauce and will toast your wraps for you. Nyom!

The Slipper (pub on Ballymun Road) do a student special which is €10 for a pint of Fosters or a soft drink and a selected meal. Choices include lasagne, wraps, other stuff. Really nice for a treat.

Eurospar on Ballymun Road do roast dinners, pancakes, other yummy hot food. Cheaper than the restaurant on campus in my experience.

There's also Mizzoni's in Shanowen, a chipper on Ballymun Road and loads of fast food places that will deliver to the campus. Look out for special offer leaflets in the hub. Very handy during exam time! Nothing quite like Domino's to take your mind off study.

Food you cook yourself will always be cheapest. The cheapest food per servings are things like potatoes or rice. Learn to make your own chips/wedges or fried rice

Invest in a lunchbox, it'll do you a world of good.
The library cafe is good if you're staying in late(ish) studying and the main restaraunt does nice soup for cold wintry days for around 1.50

I hope to make my lunch. lol. I might look silly, but I only have 50 quid a week. I would rather go out a night or 2 rather than buy lunch.

Little Caesers on Ballymun Road have very greasy, very American food, but it is seriously cheap for how much it fills you. :D 4.50 for 10 slices of cheese bread. €10 for a pizza, 8 garlic breadsticks and a drink (drink only Mon-Wed). Pretty good value methinks :pac:
